Lift up your heads, O you gates;
be lifted up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
36Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place."
37"You are a king, then!" said Pilate.
Jesus answered, "You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me."
Who is this King of glory?
The LORD strong and mighty,
the LORD mighty in battle.
He did not paint a Utopia, far off and unrealizable--he announced that the Kingdom of Heaven is within us, and is "at hand" and can be realized here and now. He did not discourse on the beauty of love--He loved. We do not find him arguing that the spiritual life should conquer matter--He walked on the water. He greatly felt the pressing necessity of hte physical needs of the people around Him, but He did not merely speak in their behalf--He fed five thousand people with five loaves and two fishes.
